Your job interview pack

Free practice checks your current answer. A paid pack prepares three questions, outlines, follow-ups and evidence prompts for one target job.

First write your own answer with at least 40 characters, then add at least 60 characters of job requirements.

Sample worksheet · fictional role

This fictional technical-role example shows the delivery format. Your pack contains three questions for your target job, English answer outlines and follow-up questions. It does not invent your experience.

1. Tell me about an API project you owned from diagnosis to release.

Answer outline
  1. Context: a fictional team investigating slow API responses.
  2. Your action: describe the measurements you personally collected and the change you made.
  3. Result: add your actual before-and-after measurements; leave unknown figures blank.
Follow-up questions

How did you separate your contribution from the rest of the team?

Evidence to prepare

Prepare a real measurement, your own contribution, and one limitation.

2. How would you choose between caching and simplifying a database query?

Answer outline
  1. Compare freshness, response time, complexity, and maintenance.
  2. Explain your decision using a real project if you have one; otherwise identify this as a hypothetical approach.
  3. State the trade-off and how you would validate the result.
Follow-up questions

What evidence would make you change your decision?

Evidence to prepare

Use actual constraints. Do not present hypothetical results as past achievements.

3. How did you explain a technical decision to a non-technical stakeholder?

Answer outline
  1. Identify the stakeholder and the decision in a real situation.
  2. Describe what you personally explained and how you checked understanding.
  3. Report the actual outcome, including uncertainty or what you would change.
Follow-up questions

What did you do when the stakeholder disagreed?

Evidence to prepare

Prepare an example of your explanation and the response you actually received.

Practice this interview question

Explain the alternatives, deciding constraint and cost of your choice. A tool name alone does not explain a trade-off.

Your answer

  1. State the problem you needed to solve.
  2. Compare two realistic approaches.
  3. Explain the constraint behind your choice.
  4. Describe the outcome, downside and when to reconsider.

Example answer — fictional, for practice

We needed to reduce repeated database reads for an API. I compared adding a cache with simplifying the query. I chose to simplify the query first because the endpoint required fresh data and we had limited time to manage invalidation. That kept the service design simpler, but it limited how much repeated work we could avoid. After rollout, I checked the query behaviour against our original goal. I would reconsider caching if read volume grew and we could define an acceptable freshness window.
